Prof. VeredVinitzky-Seroussi is a sociologist at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She holds a position of faculty fellow at the Center for Cultural Sociology at Yale University. Her major academic interest revolves around issues of collective memory and commemoration, and specifically the ways in which societies cope with their difficult pasts and shameful histories. She is also interested in festive and banal commemoration, silence in memory, notifying death, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and high school reunions. Her work appeared in venues of the field such as American Sociological Review and Social Forces. She published her books with the University of Chicago Press, State University of New York Press and Oxford University Press. Her recent one "The Collective Memory Reader" is a joint project with two American colleagues: Jeffrey Olick and Danile Levy. She is currently conducting a comparative research on home museums in Germany and Israel – funded by GIF. She was born in Tel Aviv, lives in Ramat Gan and is very familiar with route 1. Between the years 2012-2016 she served as the dean of the faculty of social sciences (and was the first woman to hold this position).

מרכז המחקר האקדמי שלי הוא בתחום של זיכרון קולקטיבי והנצחה ובמיוחד בדרכים שבהן חברות מתמודדות עם עבר בעייתי, רגעים קשים והיסטוריה מביישת. אני גם עוסקת ומתענינת במקום של שתיקה בזיכרון, בזיכרון בנאלי וחגיגי, במתן הודעות על מות, בירושלים ותל אביב ובפגישות מחזור. העבודה שלי הופיעה בכתבי עת בתחומים שלי כמו למשל American Sociological Review, Social Forces. פירסמתי ספרים בהוצאות של אוניברסיטת שיקאגו, אוניברסיטת אוקספורד ואוניברסיטת מדינת ניו יורק, הפרויקט האחרון שלי The Collective Memory Reader נערך בשותפות עם שני קוליגות: ג'פרי אוליק ודניאל לוי.
אני עכשו עוסקת במחקר השוואתי על בתים מוזיאלים בגרמניה וישראל (ממומן על ידי קרן GIF).
נולדתי בתל אביב, אני גרה ברמת גן ואני מאד מיודדת עם כביש מס' 1. בשנים 2012-2016 כיהנתי כדקנית הפקולטה למדעי החברה והייתי האשה הראשונה בתפקיד הזה.
