INTRODUCTION:

   The Shaine Center for Research in Social Sciences was established in 1987 for

   the purpose of furthering research in the social sciences. The center is

   administered by a director, and both an academic and public committee.

 

   The center's main function is the support of research in the social sciences,

   in areas related to social, economic or psychological processes and phenomena

   in Israeli society, with some two-thirds of funding allotted to researchers in

   the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. Research grants are offered to

   academic staff, graduate students, and for completion of manuscripts for

   publication.
